Fixing pages in bulk with Issue Fixes

Written by Support Team

Who this article is for: Plug In SEO users with more pages carrying the same issue than they want to fix one at a time.

What you'll learn: How to select several pages at once, generate suggestions for all of them, and recheck them when you're done.

When a batch is the right move

Issue Fixes works one issue type at a time. If your scan found the same problem on thirty product pages — missing alt text, say — you don't have to open them one by one. Select them together and Plug In SEO writes suggestions for all of them. There's no limit: the batch is however many pages you tick.

The list only shows pages that actually have the issue you picked, so everything in front of you is a candidate.

Working through a batch

1. Open Issue Fixes and choose the issue type.

2. Tick the pages you want to work on.

3. Open the Actions menu and choose Generate suggestions.

4. If any page in your selection has no keyword research of its own, Plug In SEO stops to ask. You can Start Researches to run it on those pages first, Use Generic to go ahead with your store-wide keywords, or Cancel.

5. Review each page in turn. The Review suggestion window shows the page's current value and several alternatives, each with the reason it was suggested — click Apply on the one you want.

6. Click Dismiss and Proceed to Next to leave a page unchanged and move to the next one, or Close to stop.

Nothing changes on your store until you apply a suggestion. When you do, Plug In SEO writes it straight to the page in Shopify — there's nothing to copy across by hand.

A note on keywords

Page-level keyword research makes every suggestion specific to that page; store-wide keywords work but are more generic. Research comes out of your plan's quota. Rechecking doesn't — that part is free.

Rechecking when you're done

Applying a fix doesn't clear the page off your issue list on its own — it has to be rechecked. Both options live in the same Actions menu:

- Recheck selected pages — rechecks whatever you've ticked.

- Recheck fix-attempted pages — rechecks the pages you've already applied a fix to.

Once a page passes, it drops off the list and its grade moves.

What a batch won't cover

Title tags and meta descriptions can also be handled from the other direction in Title & Descriptions section, where you build one template that applies across pages. Different tool, different job — use whichever fits.
