Who this article is for: Plug In SEO users who want to understand how to run keyword research, analyze keyword data, and optimize product pages using Keyword Studio.

What you will learn: How to navigate Keyword Studio, run per-page keyword research, and generate optimized titles and descriptions using “Incorporate Keywords.”

1. Understanding the Keyword Studio Layout

When you enter Keyword Studio, you’ll see two main sections: Per page and Global.

Per-Page

Here you’ll find all the products and collections pages on your website.

You can recognize the page types by their tags:

  • Product pages → one tag

  • Collection pages → two tags

Each page shows one of three statuses:

  • All: all you products and collection pages

  • Complete: keyword research has finished

  • Not Started: no keyword research has been done yet

In this view, you’ll also find two important metrics:

  • Keywords to Scan: the list of keywords the app will look for on that page.

  • Found on Page: how many of those keywords were actually detected (during last SEO Scan) in that specific product or collection page.

Page Actions: The Three Main Buttons

Every page inside Per-Page Keyword Studio includes an Actions section with three buttons. Each button allows you to work with the keyword data in a different way.

1: View Keywords (eye icon)

This button opens the full list of keywords associated with that page.

Inside this view, each keyword shows the following information:

You’ll see your keywords organized into different sections:

  • All Keywords – shows every keyword associated with the page

  • Enabled – active keywords you’re using or planning to use

  • New Ideas – newly generated keyword suggestions

  • Deleted – keywords you removed but can still review if needed

These filters make it easy to navigate and manage all keywords before optimizing your content. And for every keyword you will see all the following information:

  • Keyword

  • Priority:

    • Must Use

    • Good to Use

    • Nice to Use

    • Avoid

  • Generated By

  • Type: e.g., long-tail

  • Status:

    • Full match

    • No matches

  • Search Volume

  • Competitiveness

Each keyword includes two action buttons:

  • Change Priority — adjust how important the keyword is for your content

  • Delete — remove the keyword from this page’s keyword list

This view helps you understand the relevance and strength of each keyword before optimizing your content.

Generate New Keyword Ideas

If you want to generate fresh keyword ideas, simply click the “Generate New Ideas” button. The app will automatically scan the page and produce new keyword suggestions based on your content.

Add Your Own Keywords (Expert Mode)

If you already know which keywords you want to target, go to Expert Mode and add them manually — just type them in, separated by commas. This gives you full control when you already have a specific keyword strategy in mind.

2: Auto-Research (magic wand icon)

Click the pencil to automatically search for new keywords to scan for that page. When you run this action, the page’s research status will switch to In progress while the app generates suggestions. Once the analysis finishes, the status will update to Complete and any new ideas will appear.

3: Titles & Descriptions (presentation icon)

One of the most powerful features of Keyword Studio is the ability to generate optimized product titles and descriptions using your selected keywords.

Step-by-step:

  1. Click the chalkboard icon under Actions.

  2. You’ll enter your product’s current title and description.

  3. Your enabled keywords will appear in different colors so you can see where they currently appear (or don’t appear).

  4. Select the keywords you want to incorporate. If a keyword already appears in your title or description, it will show up highlighted in the same color both in the keyword list and inside the text.

  5. Click “Incorporate Keywords.”

The app will then generate:

  • An updated description, rewritten using your selected keywords

  • Keyword Strategy: A breakdown of how each keyword was used:

    • Fully included — fits naturally in the content

    • Partially included — adjusted slightly for readability

    • Not included — didn’t fit or wasn’t relevant

  • Reasoning for inclusion/exclusion: explains why each keyword was fully included, partially included, or excluded — helping you understand the decisions behind the optimized content.

If you like the result, click Save.
If not, click Close and try again with different keywords.

Once you click Save, the app will confirm that your updated title and description will be pushed directly to Shopify.

Click OK to publish the changes to your product.

Global

In the Global section, you can add keywords to scan across your entire site, not just on individual product or collection pages. This helps you build a strong, unified keyword strategy for your store.

You’ll see your keywords organized into different sections:

  • All Keywords – every keyword added to your store

  • Enabled – active keywords you’re currently using or planning to use

  • New Ideas – newly generated keyword suggestions

  • Deleted – keywords you removed but can still review if needed

Each keyword includes the same details you’ll find in the Per-Page view:

  • Keyword

  • Priority: Must Use / Good to Use / Nice to Use / Avoid

  • Generated By (e.g., app or user-added)

  • Type: long-tail, short-tail, etc.

  • Status: Full match / No matches

  • Search Volume

  • Competitiveness

You can also:

  • Generate new keyword ideas by clicking the ideas button.

  • Add your own keywords using Expert Mode, typing them manually (separated by commas).
