Generating alt text for multiple product images manually can be time-consuming. Plug In AI’s Bulk Optimization feature allows you to create descriptive, keyword-rich alt text for many images at once, saving time while maintaining SEO and accessibility best practices.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Navigate to the Product Optimization Page
From the main navigation menu, click Optimize.
This opens the “Optimize products” page, displaying all products in your store.
Step 2: Select Your Items
Choose at least one resource from the list (products, collections, pages, or blog posts).
Step 3: Configuring the AI Generation Settings
Click the Generate Bulk button located at the top-right of the page.
Select Image Alt Text as the optimization type.
A modal window will appear with the following settings:
Language: Choose the target language for your audience.
Tone of voice: Select a style that matches your brand identity.
Optional settings to click:
Describe image: AI describes the image in detail.
Include vendor name
Include product title
Include target keyword
Include specific tags
Overwrite existing alt texts: Check this if an alt text already exists; otherwise, the Bulk Generation will not work properly.
Once configured, click Start Bulk Generation.
Step 4: Monitoring and Completing the Process
The bulk generation will show progress messages:
1 of 2 completed: You can review and save generated content after progress is finished. This may take several minutes. The generated content is saved in the background. You can safely leave or close the page and check back later.
2 of 2 completed, 100%: Generation is finished.
You may need to refresh the page or perform a new SEO scan on the dashboard for changes to appear properly.
Additional Notes
The bulk generation process will apply AI-generated alt text to all selected images.
You can review and edit each alt text individually after generation if needed.
