First Contentful Paint refers to the first content (image or text) that appears on your website. This is the first “consumable” content on your page. Scripts and backgrounds may load in the background before the first “contentful” or meaningful information a user can interact with.
You want this time to be low, because the longer it takes for your page to load, the more likely a potential customer is to click away and find another site that performs better.
Google tracks First Contentful Paint as a way of measuring the user experience of your site.
A “good” first contentful paint is about 1.6 seconds.
